In case you haven’t heard of Kambio

Kambio is a startup that was founded in Miami, Florida by Diego Kuri and Gilberto Gutiérrez, who saw a business opportunity that was not being fulfilled. After working together in a firm called WeWork that developed modules for night kitchens, they came up with ideas to adapt the fundamentals of their job to the housing industry and executed them a few years later.

Kambio’s mission is to build and provide on demand modular houses that can be designed and purchased through their online platform. These high quality prefabricated homes are made and delivered in an impressive time span. It only takes this company to make the house between 2 weeks and 3 months to deliver it to the client.

The business model allows the clients to create their home through the website where they are first given the option to choose from a few models that differentiate from each other by their size. Then, they are free to modify the details in the decor of the house, from materials, textures, surfaces, flooring, etc. After the user designs the house he can visualize it in a 3D render or with virtual reality technology. These homes start at 27 meters squared for $50,000 USD.

Why are Kambio‘s homes a must have

According to Grand View Research, the market value of prefabricated concrete homes has reached a value of 89.3 billion dollars in 2019 and it is estimated that it will have a 6.3% growth rate from 2020 to 2027. This promising future can have a great impact on our environment if the leading entrepreneurs are responsible when considering their material inventory, manufacturing and building process.

Kambio is an enterprise that is well aware of the environmental issues we are facing. That’s why not only are we focused on developing a better way for clients to purchase homes that better fit their needs, but also to make sure that every home is sustainable by including materials that can be recycled and reused for future housing projects. This last part opens a new concept of sustainability in the housing industry. Can you imagine being able to transport your home whenever you have to move? This is one of the concepts that Kambio is delivering.

These modular homes are made out of eco-friendly materials, for instance, all of the wood Kambio uses is extracted from renewable forests and is environmentally certified. Another example is the use of steel beams for the structure of the homes.

Steel is one of the most sustainable materials in the world. On average, structural steel made in the U.S. contains 93 percent recycled material and does not lose its strength or other physical properties even after it has been recycled numerous times.

The steel industry reduced its greenhouse emissions per ton by 45 percent since 1975. Building manufacturers and contractors generate minimal waste during fabrication and erection.

Not only are our houses made out of excellent materials, but they also are equipped with technology that favors the environment and also your economy. With integrated solar panels in the roof, the homes make the best out of solar energy, reducing energy bills. Also, Kambio offers options for rainwater collectors that come with a tank and purifying system which also reduces water bills.

Looking into the future

As new demands arise and technology advances by request of the public’s needs,  we must be aware of our environment and the care it needs by using technology to our advantage. It is society’s responsibility to support all companies that are in the best interest of their needs and our planet, as they are both the same.

Kambio’s team has made it clear that their interests are to make homeowners life much more convenient, simple and free of worry by making a change in the housing industry and the way people buy and customize their home.

Our business is here to stay and that’s why we are also focused on the future and the impact we will have on it. Sustainability is a term that must always come first when making life choices, and what better way to honor it by living in a modern, prefabricated and sustainable home.
